Kaia DLT Foundation, the entity that oversees the integration and launch of the Kaia blockchain, together with LINE NEXT, the web3 venture arm of communication app LINE, announced plans to launch a stablecoin-powered web3 super-app, which is tentatively called “Project Unify.”

Project Unify

In a media release, the entities involved described the app as available as a standalone service operated by Kaia and as an integrated feature within LINE Messenger, which the firms said has 250 million monthly active users worldwide, along with another communication platform KakaoTalk.

A beta version is expected to roll out this year, initially targeting LINE Messenger’s large user bases in Japan, Taiwan, and Thailand.

“We have seen both the needs and the potential of stablecoins. We plan to lead the expansion of Asia’s stablecoin ecosystem by introducing a super-app that anyone can use easily and safely.”

Moreover, Kaia DLT Foundation Chairman Dr. Sam Seo said that the project aims to unify Asia’s fragmented payment systems through a stablecoin orchestration layer and position Kaia to advance cross-border financial inclusion.

“Project Unify is Kaia’s strategic project to seize the opportunity in dominating the Asian stablecoin market, offering diverse convenience-enhancing fintech and entertaining services.”

In addition, Kaia and LINE NEXT noted that they will build on the momentum they attracted on their launch of Mini Dapps on LINE in January 2025, which attracted more than 130 million new registered users, expanding the model into the full-scale Unify app, which will be available on the web, mobile, and LINE Messenger.

How Will Project Unify Work?

Unify will provide stablecoin-based services including yield, payments, remittances, on- and off-ramps, and access to more than 100 web3 applications, the media release noted.

According to the firms, the app is positioned as the first stablecoin-powered fintech hub on LINE, where users will be able to deposit stablecoins into their wallets to access real-time incentives, send tokens via LINE messages, make payments to online and offline merchants worldwide, and receive paybacks.

Moreover, the platform will support stablecoins pegged to multiple Asian currencies, including the U.S. dollar, Japanese yen, Thai baht, Korean won, Indonesian rupiah, Philippine peso, Malaysian ringgit, and Singapore dollar.

By aggregating these currencies, Kaia aims to consolidate the region’s fragmented payments market and position Unify as a hub for issuance, payments, and yield opportunities, as per the entities involved.

Recent Kaia Developments

Earlier this month, Kaia DLT Foundation and Taiwan Mobile signed an MOU to jointly boost Taiwan’s web3 ecosystem by developing Dapps, hybrid financial solutions, and compliant DeFi protocols. The partnership combines Kaia’s blockchain technology with Taiwan Mobile’s market reach to expand adoption and lower entry barriers for mainstream users.

In August, Kaia partnered with South Korean fintech firm DaWinKS to enable tourists to convert USDT into cash or prepaid transit cards through Digital ATMs at key tourist destinations such as N Seoul Tower and Myeongdong.
