Jimmy Kimmel has marked the first year of President Donald Trump‘s second presidential term with an embarrassing supercut, recapping a few of the lowlights of the past 365 days.
“You really almost have to hand it to him, he can do so much damage in one three-day weekend,” Kimmel said, beginning by reviewing the last few days alone. “I don’t know if anybody has ever done more. Every country hates us now. It’s official. All of them hate us.”
Speaking on Trump’s moves to take Greenland from NATO ally Denmark, Kimmel addressed the president’s statement that he “no longer feel[s] an obligation to think purely of peace” simply because a Norwegian organisation did not give him the Nobel Peace Prize. Lambasting Trump, the late show host observed that ironically the U.S. is now “on the verge of going to war over the Nobel Prize for peace.”
“It’s like we armed a real housewife with nuclear weapons,” said Kimmel. “This man is crashing the plane because the stewardess didn’t bring them a bag of peanuts, okay? This is what happens to children who get anything they want. This is how they grow up. President Veruca Salt. ‘I want Greenland! I want it now!’ All because he didn’t get a little medal around his neck. He’s a child.”
Kimmel then ended with a montage of dubious moments from Trump’s current presidency, covering everything from renaming the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America, to his Tesla ad at the White House, to his messy breakup with Elon Musk, to his derogatory comments about other countries.
