GCash has issued a public advisory warning users that the cryptocurrency platform Bitget is not registered to operate in the Philippines and is not affiliated with the local e-wallet giant in any capacity.

GCash Advisory

According to the e-wallet, the advisory comes after reports that some crypto platforms, including Bitget, have used the GCash brand and logo in online materials without permission or official partnership.

Accordingly, GCash emphasized that it has no system integration or relationship with Bitget.

“Bitget is not registered to operate in the Philippines and is not affiliated with GCash – stay safe when using crypto platforms!”

In a social media advisory, the e-wallet urged its users to remain cautious by ensuring that any services they use are officially registered and authorized as part of efforts to keep their accounts secure.

To ensure the security of their transactions, GCash highlighted that the public is advised to refer to the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas’ official directory of authorized financial institutions, accessible through its website.

Bitget in PH

In June 2025, Bitget Wallet, the non-custodial wallet developed by the crypto platform, launched support for QR Ph payments in the Philippines, allowing local users to pay for goods and services using stablecoins such as $USDT and $USDC across various blockchains.

  • The feature lets Filipinos scan QR Ph codes at participating retail stores, restaurants, and food stalls, directly spending crypto without the need for peer-to-peer conversions.

In addition, Bitget also showcased the update during Philippines Blockchain Week. The firm also introduced a blockchain education book for children in underserved Philippine communities through a partnership with Cryptita Plays last May.
