From Gateās launch of Gate Layer to Buterin calling PeerDAS core to Ethereum scaling, here is a roundup of the top crypto stories you may have missed this week.
Gate Launches Gate Layer, Expands GT Ecosystem With New Web3 Products

Crypto exchange Gate rolled out Gate Layer, a high-performance Layer 2 network built on the OP Stack and secured by GateChain as its Layer 1 settlement layer.Ā
Fully compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine, Gate Layer is noted to be designed to lower costs, reduce latency, and process up to 5,700 transactions per second. The network integrates LayerZero for cross-chain interoperability and uses GT as its exclusive gas token, reinforcing the tokenās central role in the ecosystem.
Alongside the launch, Gate announced an expanded GT token economy and three flagship products: Perp, a decentralized perpetual futures trading hub; Gate Fun, a no-code platform for token launches; and Meme Go, a real-time monitoring and trading hub for meme tokens.Ā
The upgrade also introduces a dual deflationary mechanism for GT through scheduled burns and on-chain fee burning, aiming to increase scarcity and long-term value as part of Gateās āAll in web3ā strategy.
Interpol Seizes $97M in Crypto in Global Cybercrime Crackdown

Interpol and law enforcement agencies across 40 countries seized $439 million in criminal proceeds, including $97 million in cryptocurrencies, in a multinational operation targeting cybercrime.Ā
Dubbed Operation HAECHI VI, the crackdown ran from April to August and focused on fraud schemes ranging from phishing and romance scams to money laundering tied to illegal gambling.Ā
Authorities blocked more than 68,000 bank accounts and froze nearly 400 crypto wallets, recovering $16 million from the wallets alone. The operation led to arrests worldwide, including 45 suspects in Portugal accused of defrauding vulnerable families of $270,000 in social security payments.Ā
Interpol said the results demonstrate that recovery of stolen funds is possible with global cooperation. The initiative, financially backed by South Korea, included agencies from the United States, United Kingdom, Japan, India, Brazil, and others.Ā

Crypto.com denied claims it hid a 2023 breach that exposed limited user data, calling reports of a cover-up āunfounded.āĀ
The exchange said it had disclosed the incident, a phishing attack on an employee that briefly exposed some personal information, to U.S. regulators and relevant authorities, stressing no funds were at risk.
CEO Kris Marszalek echoed the denial on X, saying suggestions that the company failed to report the breach were āmisinformation.āĀ
Critics had raised transparency concerns after Bloomberg cited a hacker tied to Scattered Spider and blockchain investigator ZachXBT suggested multiple breaches.
Saylor Predicts Bitcoin to Hit New Highs by End-2025

Strategy executive chairman Michael Saylor predicted the cryptocurrency would āmove upā to a new all-time high by the end of 2025.Ā
Despite a recent pullback to lows near $111,000, analysts noted strong support levels around $112,000, with resistance expected at $114,000 to $115,000. Corporate accumulation, ETF inflows, and historically strong Q4 seasonality are being cited as factors that could push Bitcoin above $124,000 before year-end.
Saylor said daily corporate and ETF purchases far outpace the 900 BTC mined per day, creating a supply shortage that adds āupward pressureā on prices.Ā
Market strategists, while cautious about short-term volatility, pointed to favorable seasonal flows and institutional demand as supportive of new highs. MicroStrategy continues to lead corporate adoption, holding nearly 639,000 BTC, with Saylor emphasizing Bitcoinās role as ādigital goldā underpinning future credit instruments.
Buterin Calls PeerDAS Core to Ethereum Scaling Ahead of Fusaka Upgrade

Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin said the upcoming Fusaka upgradeās Peer Data Availability Sampling (PeerDAS) is central to scaling the blockchain.Ā
The feature lets nodes verify block data by sampling small chunks rather than storing entire datasets, making the network more efficient and resistant to dishonest participants. Buterin described the method as āunprecedentedā and said it will support both Layer 2 rollups and, eventually, Ethereumās base layer.
His comments followed data showing Ethereum blocks reached six blobs for the first time, with rollups such as Base and World consuming most of the available blobspace. Buterin said blob counts will be raised cautiously at first to avoid network strain, with PeerDAS enabling further increases over time.Ā
Developers have tentatively scheduled Fusakaās mainnet launch for Dec. 3, with a $2 million audit contest underway to test its security.
