Web3 platform Bitget Wallet announced the rollout of a QR-based payment feature across the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region. According to a company press release, the update allows users to pay for goods and services offline by scanning local merchant QR codes using a self-custodial wallet.
The firm stated that the initial rollout supports payments using stablecoins, specifically USDT and USDC, across multiple blockchain networks such as Ethereum, Solana, and the BNB Chain.
Transaction Mechanics and Settlement

According to the announcement, the system connects blockchain assets with existing local payment infrastructure. When a user initiates a payment by scanning a supported QR code, the stablecoins are deducted from their wallet, while the merchant receives the settlement in their local fiat currency through traditional payment rails.
The company says this setup allows for stablecoin payments in offline retail settings without requiring merchants to manually off-ramp the digital assets or change their existing point-of-sale systems.
Bitget Wallet indicated plans to eventually expand the feature beyond stablecoins, estimating that over 1,000 tokens will become eligible for QR payments. The company also announced a promotional campaign offering random token rewards to users who complete eligible transactions.
Focus on the APAC Market
Bitget Wallet attributed its focus on the APAC region to existing consumer payment habits. Alvin Kan, Chief Operating Officer of Bitget Wallet, stated that the company aims to integrate crypto payments into the region’s established reliance on QR codes for daily transactions.
According to Worldpay data, digital wallets accounted for 59% of the point-of-sale transaction value in the APAC market in 2024. Furthermore, the firm referenced industry estimates projecting that global QR payment values will increase from $5.4 trillion in 2025 to over $8 trillion by 2029.
The company noted that the QR feature is built on its “Onchain Payments Matrix,” an infrastructure designed to link blockchains and self-custodial wallets with regional banks and traditional payment networks.
